Stone blocks

Overview

Some large Stone Blocks will appear on the board in predefined positions. Each Faction's game mode has a different starting position of Blocks, but the starting position will remain the same if the game mode is repeated. Stone Blocks do not fall onto the Board like Gems or Skulls and cannot be matched or moved, however, they can be exploded.

Removing Stone Blocks from the board

Generally, spells that can destroy or explode random areas of the board have a chance to remove Stone Blocks that are nearby. If you want to remove Stone Blocks, aim for Spells that disrupt the Gem Board in a general nature, or spells that Explode or Destroy Gems nearby.

This is because Spells that target specific Gems cannot be used to target Stone Blocks directly; such as:

  • Select a Gem
  • Destroy a Gem
  • Explode a Gem
  • Create X Gems of a chosen type

Types of Spells that affect Stone Blocks

Some types of Spells can be used to indirectly remove Stone Blocks.

Explode

Most Troops that use Spells that explode the board randomly and include Stone Blocks in their radius can indirectly explode Stone Blocks.
Example:
Ancient Golem: Explode a Gem - this spell allows you to select a Gem to Explode. You cannot Explode the block directly but you can explode a Gem next to the block to destroy it.

Destroy

Most Troops that Destroy Gems in a general area may also Destroy Stone Blocks nearby.
Example:
Autumnal Imp - Destroy 10 Random Gems - This spell has a chance to destroy a random block.
Armored Boar - Destroy a row - May destroy blocks if you select a row that contains blocks.

Remove

Spells that remove Gems in a general or random area can remove blocks as a consequence.
Example: Abhorath: Remove all Gems
