The Underworld: Overview and unlocking

Modified on Thu, 19 Jun at 2:20 AM

Dive beneath the depths of Krystara into the dark and powerful Underworld. Delve through ancient Lairs to uncover new Troops and Treasures and power up your Teams.

The Underworld update released in Gems of War in September 2018, as update Version 4.0. This update added an entirely new expansion to the existing Map of Krystara (the main map) by allowing you to explore beneath the world with additional game modes, features, resources, and Troops.

Unlock the Underworld

To unlock the Underworld complete the:

  • Blackhawk
  • Wild Plains
  • Leonis Empire
  • Sin of Maraj

Kingdom group Questlines.

Entering the Underworld

Select the main button shown in the center of the HUD (display) toolbar to collect Tribute and, after this, go to the Underworld or back to Krystara. Game modes and other menus such as Chests and Guild Tasks can still be accessed, however, this content is the same as what is in Krystara and is not unique to the Underworld.

Underworld and Krystara differences

Overall, the Underworld does not revolve around the same economy as Krystara or the main map of Gems of War. The other main differences are to the types of rewards earned and Stone blocks.

The main features of The Underworld include:

These features are listed in the logical order of using and unlocking them if you are new to the Underworld.

Battles and Rewards

Standard Battle Rewards such as Gold and Souls are given for completing Battles in Quests and Delves. The Rewards will separate in the Rewards list after a battle is completed however they are added to the same resource: For example, Gold and Delve Gold are the same but have separate icons.

This was added to differentiate between the Gold awarded from the Battle plus the Gold given for the Delve as well.

Stone Blocks

Some large Stone Blocks will appear on the board in predefined positions. These can be removed indirectly through explosions. For more information see this article: Stone Blocks
